OUR STORY

Youth for Global Peace Network –Sierra Leone [YGPN-SL] is an Organization that was born out of the inspirational ideas got from the International Peace Youth Group [IPYG] Changchun branch in Jilin University, Jilin Province, under Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light [HWPL]. It all started from yesterday. In one windy morning I left my dormitory to do an exercise in one of the University fields in Changchun. On my way home as we used to say, I met with two strange Chinese guys in front of the entrance to my dormitory. They halted me with interrogations like ‘’ Where am I from? My response was I’m from Sierra Leone. They were astonished to know me more as well as to know where in Africa is Sierra Leone located. I told them Sierra Leone is in West Africa with the likes of Nigeria, Ghana, The Gambia and Liberia. Before I could count seconds, they firmly introduced themselves as Morison and John as their English names and as coordinators working for Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light [HWPL] in China section. They expressed their happiness to have me as their friend and later confessed I’m the first Sierra Leonean to have ever set their eyes on. They ask for my name and I told them I’m Osrian. Moreover, while we were talking, Morison unfolds the reason why they have come to our school for a visitation. He explained briefly on the background of why Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light [HWPL] was established in consonant with the International Peace Youth Group [IPYG]. He further that they are looking for international students to join their team in the propagation of World Peace and the cessation of war. I was boldly told by those guys through the privileged conversation to be a part and to come onboard in order to achieve HWPL objectives. So far it was from that angle of approach I became a full fledge member of IPYG in 2016. After my studies upon returning home the idea of Youth for Global Peace Network –Sierra Leone came in existence in August 20th 2017 in order to help fulfill and compliment the aim and objectives of HWPL –IPYG in Africa and in my country Sierra Leone. Youth for Global Peace Network-Sierra Leone as the name implies is not solely based on the propagation of peace or the ceased of war and violence but has an expanded objectives that goes beyond it primary or general objective.

Youth for Global Peace Network-Sierra Leone knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. Back in 2017, our Non-Profit Organization realized that by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, and that is why we ultimately decided to launch Youth for Global Peace Network-Sierra Leone.
